I made this question sound a little more interesting.

Beavis and Butthead played a game "Who gnaws (eats ) a book faster".

Doing it independently, Beavis can gnaw a certain book in 6 hours and Butthead, can do it 7 hours. If Beavis and Butthead gnaw a book together for 3 hours and then Beavis dies from lead poisoning, how many hours will it take Butthead to complete the task alone?

Try again.

I will give you something to chose from:

1) 1/14
2) 2/5
3) 1/2
4) 29/42
5) 1

Another hint, if they already do this task together for some time, how can the remaing time that one of guys needs to complete the task continuing to work alone be more than that if he did it alone from the beginning?

You are right, it is my bad.

(1/6+1/7)*3+(1/7)*X=1

X=1/2

I have done a mistake in calculation on the first try.
