So both were written in the same year of publication. Publication of what exactly? Do you see any sense here? I do not.

No, not at all. Both are written in the same year, not in the same year of publication. So if you want rephrase it, do it as follows:
... written in the same year as that of publication of The Adventures ...
However C is still much more concise than that.
