No, I don't. Same ... that is perfectly correct in this context.
But put it aside for a minute. Take a closer look at what exactly (B) is

I understand the error in "B" but I am trying to figure out how exactly could I rephrase "B" to mean the same as "C".

No, not at all. Both are written in the same year, not in the same year of publication. So if you want rephrase it, do it as follows:

... written in the same year as that of publication of The Adventures ...

However C is still much more concise than that.

One more thing, in A and B you are trying to do comparision which is not correct in this context.

C is the best choice. we need 'that' to modify 'year' before proceeding to 'the adventures of huckleberry finn'
