me thinks C....

A: Uses were instead of was (letter is singular)
B: sounds weird...
C: The construction seems good, no confusion on the publication date and it IS the letter doing the revealing.
D: with this structure reveals would have to be revealed.
E: I think reveals has to be revealed to stay within same tense without commas...

C as well.

a) "The Adventures of Huckleberry Fin" is singular so we need "was" rather than "were"
b) "year of publication" sounds awkward.
d) "that" makes the entire sentence chunky - "that reveals that..." awkward and chunky.
e) "that" makes the entire sentence chunky - "that reveals that..." awkward and chunky.

IMO C !

A is wrong because of the usage of were (plural but letter is singular)
B is wrong because of usage of as. (As compares two verbs and not nouns)
C is correct !
D is awkward in construction.
E uses wrong usage of as and is also structurally awkward .

Hope this helps

Hi,
I agree that "was" had to be replaced with "were", in the statement.
But, I think C has an undue "that" in the statement, that spoils the comparison.
Written in the same year, in which the novel was published, was understandable.
"That" is so awkward there, and I feel the usage of "were" is not as worse as this.
At least, In Gmat, the better of the answers go in place, so i think A.
Someone, please explain.
Thanks!

Tired of seeing everyone answering C, would appreciate if some one can tell why "that" and not "in which" is appropriate in C :( .

The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is a novel . Therefore were published is wrong!!! Eliminate A
In D that, reveals that is awkard

As is for comprassions we need that in the sentence. B and E . In B and E it is also understood that there is a specific year . M.T wrote a letter in the same year as the novel. Which year is that _?
But in C a letter ,written in the same year that the novel was published.
