I imagine that many people have wondered if there is any point to this map to management programs. For those who are fully committed to a conventional full time MBA program this map will not do much for you. For those who are determining which type of program is best for them, this map can be extremely useful.

For example, I remember advising a seasoned executive who wanted a brief rest from her career but also wanted a program that catered to executives. While she knew of Executive MBAs and PT MBAs she was unaware of the possibility of a "Sloan Fellow" program that would allow her to earn a management degree from one of the best management schools in the world during a one year sabbatical with other executives.

Beyond its practical utility I like this map because it shows the full diversity and symmetry of academic offerings in management. Much like the creation of synthetic financial instruments, you can mix and match the various offerings in management to create a unique academic instrument with an optimized pay-out structure.
