A number of machines work on a job at equally constant rate respectively. How many hours does it take for 5 such machines to finish the job?

1) 4 machines take 30 hours to finish the job.
2) 5 machines takes 12 hours less than 3 machines to finish the job.

D. assuminng these 4 machines are the same as the machines above....

but both statements aren't leading to the same answer.

A number of machines work on a job at equally constant rate respectively. How many hours does it take for 5 such machines to finish the job?

1) 4 machines take 30 hours to finish the job.
2) 5 machines takes 12 hours less than 3 machines to finish the job.

From (1)
4 machines ..... 30 hrs
1 machine ........30x4 hrs
5 machines.......(30x4)/5 = 24 hrs

From (2)
Let 1 machine take 15x hrs
then 3 machines take 5x hrs
and 5 machines take 3x hrs
5x-3x=12
x=6
so 5 machines take 3x = 18 hrs....

Yea the answers are different...
