A number of points are marked on a plane and are connected pairwise by a line segment. If the total number of line segment is 15, how many points are marked on the plane?

The numbers of lines are 15 and points are 2. I know 6C2 = 15 and the number of points are 6.

How did you come up with the number 6 . is is something like
xC2 = 15. Can you please explain your approach; Or you just did backsolving to comeup with the number 6
