A particular phenomenon has been observed in the relationship between age and attire. The more formally a person is dressed, the older the average observer will gauge him or her to be. Thus, the average observer viewing two men, one wearing a business suit and the other wearing casual clothing, will generally estimate the man in the business suit to be five years older than the man wearing casual clothing.
The conclusion of the argument above would be more properly drawn if which of the following were true?
A. The age of the man wearing the business suit is greater than that of the man wearing casual clothing.
B. The older a man is, the more likely it is that he will wear a business suit.
C. The age of the man wearing the business suit is equal to the age of the man wearing casual clothing.
D. The average observer’s estimates of age are generally more accurate regarding casually dressed people than formally dressed people.
E. The average observer’s estimates of age are generally more accurate regarding formally dressed people than casually dressed people.

I go ahead with A. A renders proof to the conclusion.
The missing link is the gap between the phenomenon and the viewer's conclusion. Only A justifies it.
Unless that is true, the phenomenon is not justified. Just the viewer's judgement alone is not sufficient.
B : Is another cause thus actually weakening the conclusion.
C : Negates the conclusion
D & E : Negate the conclusion. If either of them is correct, the conclusion is weakened. Infact, the general viewer should be able to estimate either way properly (formal or informal) and the conclusion should be in line with phenomenon.

C.
Validates that the average observer's bias towards assessing one in formal clothing to be older.

I will go for (C).
If 2 person's age is same and if the 3rd person guaging them finds the age difference, then the phenomena is established.

I think C is correct.
Because if the man in business suite is actually 5 years older, then attire has no effect on the average observer's perception
Pls comment

I think the answer is C. If both of the persons is the same age, then it would be properly drawn that one will look older due to the attire.
A should not be correct because if the person with the business attire is already older, of course he would still look older then the person with the casual attire.
