(A) a building owned by an individual or individuals having less than eight units and no commercial space

(B) one that an individual or individuals own with fewer than eight units and (has) no commercial space

(C) a building with fewer than eight units, no commercial space, and is owned by an individual or individuals

(D) one that has fewer than eight units, (has) no commercial space and it is owned by an individual or individuals

(E) one that has fewer than eight units, is owned by an individual or individuals, and has no commercial space

A is wring in that owned by an individual is passive. less than eight units is wrong since units is a countable noun. it should be fewer than eight units.

B is wrong because it is missing a verb. see above. it is not parallel and has bad structure.

C is wrong in that the sentence is not parallel.
D is wrong in that the sentence is not parallel.
E is correct.
has fewer...is owned...has no
all auxiliary verbs.

sorry, made a mistake

E is not parallel because i said it has auxiliary verbs.

have is not an auxiliary verb in the last portion

a house in NYC is one that
has fewer X
is owned X
and
has no X.

C) a building with fewer than eight units, no commercial space, and is owned by an individual or individuals.

So it reads----- with fewer---. with no commercial space and with is owned by an individual-----

E is parallel --has--, is-- and has-----[/b]
