A question about back up methods in quant [#permalink] New post 26 Mar 2013, 16:57
When is it favourable to use backsolving? when is it favourable to use estimation ? and when is it favourable to plug numbers ? apart from the problems with variables in answer choices of course .

Thanks in advance :)

There is no straightforward answer to this. Clues are in the question, but more apparent with the answer choices. Look for groupings of answers and spacing of answers to see if you can eliminate choices or if estimation will make sense. I typically only plug in numbers when there are variables in the answer choices.
