A rectangular floor measures 2 by 3 meters. There are 5 white, 5 black, and 5 red parquet blocks available. Each block measures 1 by 1 meter. In how many different color patterns can the floor be parqueted?

* 104
* 213
* 577
* 705
* 726

how does one approach this?

how does one approach this?

If there had been 6 stones of each color, then there would have been 3^6 = 729 patterns total. But there are only 5 stones of each color. So all black, all red and all white are not possible. i.e 3 patterns not possible.

729-3=726 possibilities.

I hope i dont get such nerve wreckers in the real test. what is the source of this question ?
