I find it following Manhattan’s CR Guide outline on the assumption based question.
For assumption based questions, look for following relations:
1. Feasibility premises – that is possibility of happening of stated premise
2. Logical Gap
3. Eliminate alternate path to the same end
4. Eliminate alternate mode causation
All most all assumptions questions follow under the above conditions

I also agree with D with the following reason:
A. This does not support any of the premises or conclusion.
B. Same as A.
C. This contradicts the conclusion.
E. Same as A.
Note: As I have learnt, "out of scope" is not applicable for assumption type question.
