A right circular cylinder has a height of 20 and a radius of 5. A rectangular solid with a height of 15 and a square base is placed in the cylinder such that each of the corners of the solid are tangent to the cylinder walls. Liqid is then poured into the cylinder such that it reaches the rim. What is the volume of the liquid?

The side of the square face of the solid= r*sqrt2= 5sqrt2--> the volume of the solid= 15*side^2= 15*(5sqrt2)^2= 750
the volume of cylinder= 20* pi*5^2= 500 pi
Liqid is then poured into the cylinder such that it reaches the rim ---> I guess it means the liquid was poured into the cylinder till the cylinder is full ---> the volume of the liquid= 500pi -750

Diameterof circle is equal to diagonal of the square. Side =diagonal/sq. root 2=10/sq. root 2. :arrow: Area of rect. solid=100/2*15=750
Then I got lost.

I agree with the cylinder volume, but why do u divide the 100 by 2?
