I would say C as well.

The main problem with this sentence is the need to clarify who is likely to miss the decline in the high percentage hitter’s performance and the need to clarify that “his performance” refers to the high percentage hitter and not the seasoned rookie. B comes close to correcting the problems, but the last clause is still confusing. C isn't a particularly pretty sentence, but it avoids the reference ambiguity and attaches the subject of the sentence most clearly to the verb "miss".
