18 it is. Check the ingredients on your shampoo bottle.

hmmm..that's something to ponder

solution:
vol/time = pi*R^2*H / time = pi
H=10
solve for 2R---> Dia

Scary isn't it - it's a miracle I'm not losing my hair...yet.

E)

t = 13.5*60 = 810 seconds
h = 10

pi*r^2*h = pi*t
pi*r^2*10 = 810*pi
r^2 = 81
r = 9
d = 18

Here's another wacky geo question.

Every year in Arfonk New Kork, Pizza chefs vie to bake the largest pizza in the world. This year they will make a giant circular pizza with a diameter of 200 feet. They will also sprinkle the pizza with 25 slices of pepperoni per square feet - distributed evenly. A giant awakes and smells the pizza, and wreaks havoc on the town of Arfonk. He threatens to demolish the IBT Corp. research park, Arfonk's largest employer, unless he is given large quantities of food and beer. He is appeased when offered a slice of the giant pizza and 100 kegs of beer. If the slice was 1/4 of the pie, approximately how many pepperonies did the giant consume? After the giant eats the pizza, he dies of a massive coronary - and the town of Arfonk lived happily ever after until the day IBT Corp. announced a 4,800 person headcount reduction.

assume pi=3.14

a) 196,250
b) 197,224
c) 198,444
d) 199,234
e) 200,333

One more question and we'll call it a night as far as cylinders are concerned.

A cylindrical storage tank containing the liquid chemical, ammonium xylenesulfonate, is being filled at a rate of pi cubic meters per second. Structural engineers are also working on the tank and they are surveying the dimensions of the tank. The tank stands 10 meters tall. If the tank was empty before being filled and if took 13.5 minutes to fill then what is the diameter of the tank?

a) 8 meters
b) 9 meters
c)12 meters
d)16 meters
e)18 meters

I am getting e) 18 meters

Yup, A it is. Quite a fancy story. It's a story somewhere between Odysseus and the restructuring of Enron. Quite funny

A sheet of paper 8 units long and 6 units wide is rolled into a cylinder 8 units in height. What is the volume of the cylinder?

48/pi
72/pi
24/pi
9/pi
96/pi

Surface area of cylinder = area of paper = 48 sq units

Surface area of cylinder = 2 *PI* r* h = 48 sq. units

we know h = 8 units

so r = 3/PI units

Volume of cylinder = PI * r ^2 * h = PI * 9 / PI^2 * 8 = 72/PI sq. units
