My answer differ from others. I was oscillating betweeb B/C. Though I like B over C but the comma at the end of the sentence made me pick C.
I think C is best here if B has no typos.

I think it's C.
"which" should refer to "substance" or "derivative".
in A, "which" refers to "Madagascar periwinkle", which I believe is wrong.

I think this Sentence has a dobious SUBJECT. In my opinion answer can be C or E either.

E - Wrong - How can Madagascar periwinkle be a derivate...the original sentence , clearly states a substance derived from Mad Peri.
I think C is good.

Perez, What is the source of this question.
Both A and C could be equally correct.
Check this rule out from
http://webster.commnet.edu/grammar/clauses.htm
the relative pronoun "which" could be used to refer to more than just the word it precedes:
E.g:
Some relative clauses will refer to more than a single word in the preceding text; they can modify an entire clause or even a series of clauses.
Charlie didn't get the job in administration, which really surprised his friends.
Charlie didn't get the job in administration, and he didn't even apply for the Dean's position, which really surprised his friends.

its definitly E). only the madagascar periwinkle itself can be cultivated. neither a substance in A) nor a derivative in C) can be cultivated. a "derivative" derives from something. the madagascar periwinkle can in fact derive from something else.

I don't think the substance (derived from MP) is cultivated... cultivated should correspond to MP.. So I'll go with E
