We can check each answer by substitution as it is fairly simple.

a) Cost = Max(960,600) = 960. Wrong

b) Cost = Max(960,800) = 960. Wrong

c) Cost = Max(720,800) = 800. Correct answer.

d) Cost = Max(720,960) = 960. Wrong

Answer is hence C.

choices
a)6
b)8
c)10
d)12

if company rented truck for upto 8 hours, the charges must have been 120*8= 960 for 120 km run (since it is more than 8*100 based on hour rates). But company paid only 800. That would mean number of hours must be greater than 8.

in second condition: company would pay 120*6 = 720 if it paid based on number of kms, which is less than total amount paid. Therefore company must have paid based on number of hours. => number of hours = 800/hourly rate = 800/80 =10

Ans C it is.
