Let ABC pays "x" dollars for the garage parking of its 5 vehicles;

so;

$$\frac{140*3+x}{8} = 240$$
$$x = 240*8 - 140*3 = 1920-420 = 1500$$

Ans: "E"

i think the trick is about " cars going out"
it means it could go out sometimes and it could stay at the garage sometimes, thus the ABC company still has to pay fees for going-out cars in garage

so the math will be 240*8 cars-3*140=1500 fee for parking in garage.

The total value of the 3 cars parking is 420. The total for 8 cars is 1920. Hence, 1920-420= 1500 is the amount paid for the 5 cars.
