I am applying for Fall 06 admission but am not 100% committed to attending this year - even if I am accepted at my top choice.

Does anyone have any experience with deferrals? I'm sure that policy varies from school to school, but if I am accepted and then choose not to enroll will I kill my chances at that school the following year?

For example, I am accepted, choose not to enroll, and then the admissions committee sees my application again next year - do they simply throw it out, or does this happen all of the time?

Thanks for any information.

It depends on your reasons for wanting a deferral (most schools don't like to grand them), what you do during the intervening year, and the quality of the applicant pool during the second year that you apply.

Good luck!
