Re: Accepted to Booth Part Time Program - After two FT dings... [#permalink]
I have a similar story as you - dinged from numerous FT programs (including Booth) and applying to PT Booth as an alternative. I have my interview on Tuesday and I'm wondering if you have any tips. I am specifically concerned about how it will be perceived that I applied and was denied from their FT program and am applying PT now. I truly think this happened for the best as the PT is likely a better fit for me now, but how to I make that sound sincere and not just simply desparate?

Any tips would be appreciated!

I made no bones about it that the full time program had been my goal from the start, but made sure to stress the fact that while I was disappointed about that outcome, I was sitting there because more than anything I wanted to go to Booth.

I would be prepared to explain your rationale for your fit with the school's culture, be honest with them about what you think an EVENING mba will do for your career in the long run. I had literally just accepted a new job a week beforehand and could honestly say that I was no longer going to pursue a full time mba anywhere else because Booth was what I wanted and as far as committing myself to a full time MBA program I had essentially "moved on."

I think they get a lot of disingenuous people who use PT as a back-door for the full time program. The programs are very different, and the onus is on you to illustrate why you think the part time program is the best option for yourself.

Good Luck and have fun
