According to a recent poll, owning and living in a freestanding house on its own land is still a goal of a majority of young adults, like that of earlier generations.
(A) like that of earlier generations (B) as that for earlier generations (C) just as earlier generations did (D) as have earlier generations (E) as it was of earlier generations

Its E.
You are comparing similar things - young adults to earlier generation - this eliminates A (its got a like comparison). Out of the remaining options E sounds the most parallel - ..... a goal of <xyz>, as it was of <abc> .

Answer option E, use of "as" is preferred over "like" and parallel construction.

hi cat, I think retaking the gmat is an excellent idea. Your quant is already amazing. Just practice the verbal a little, you can improve it big time and easily cross 700. I am currently using a software called gmatter ( http://www.gmatter.biz) to practice. Its very useful as a simulator the of real GMAT verbal experience.
