IMO the difference between A and B is that A make an inference that cannot be made from the question stem.
the question stem states: According to a recent study, fifteen corporations in the United States that follow a credo of social responsibility are also very profitable. Meaning there are corporations that follow credo of social responsibility and they are also profitable. this does not state any connection between the credo of social responsibility and the profit of these corporations it just states two facts there are true in regard of these corporations. A makes one step further and creates a connection, which in this type of questions is wrong. B simply restates the first sentence.

Hey,
thanks for question.

Note any presence of strong words in answer choices. Sometimes I got the right choice after reading ONLY answer choices, whithout even reading the stimulus.

Try to read it in this way.

According to a recent study, fifteen corporations in the United States that follow a credo of social responsibility are also very profitable. Because of their credos, these fifteen corporations give generously to charity, follow stringent environmental-protection policies, and have vigorous affirmative-action programs.
Which of the following can be correctly inferred from the statements above?

(A) Following a credo of social responsibility helps to make a corporation very profitable.
(B) It is possible for a corporation that follows a credo of social responsibility to be very profitable. - mild response
(C) A corporation that gives generously to charity must be doing so because of its credo of social responsibility.
(D) Corporations that are very profitable tend to give generously to charity. - debatable
(E) Corporations that have vigorous affirmative-action programs also tend to follow stringent environmental-protection policies. - scope shift

I just kept on thinking about causality when I read the stimulus.

Note how the stimulus doesn't say because corporations in the US follow a credo of social responsibility they are profitable - but rather they are also profitable.

I went for A..understand why B makes much sense...

That extra confirmation in A is not valid.
The "possible" in B makes it true with the QS.
