According to a study concerning environmental economics, any manufacturer that offers an environmentally sound lawnmower, such as a manual push mower, will almost certainly reap a huge profit because consumers say that they want a mower that requires neither gasoline nor electricity. A spokesman for the trade association of gasoline lawnmower manufacturers asserted that this claim had little factual support.

"any manufacturer that offers an environmentally sound lawnmower, such as a manual push mower, will almost certainly reap a huge profit because consumers say that they want a mower that requires neither gasoline nor electricity" is the statement that the spokesperson is saying is not true. Therefore we need an answer choice that will do something along the lines of proving that consumers do NOT want a mower that requires neither gasoline nor electricity or that manufacturers who make manual push mowers will NOT receive huge profits.

A. This would hurt, not support, the spokesman's claim. If a majority of people are concerned with the high prices of gasoline, then they DO want a manual push mower.
B. This is correct because it is one of the things that we were looking for.
C. Again, this would hurt, not support the spokesman's claim. People do not want gasoline or electricity powered mowers, thus they WANT the manual push mower.
D. This is wrong because it is a general statement about lawnmowers in general. Does not make the important distinction between electric, gas powered, and manual push mowers to warrant support for the spokesman.
E. This is wrong because it has nothing to do with purchasing lawnmowers.
