A

chose A over B because of the mismatch of 'the small farmer' and the 'they' in the last clause.

Vote for A. The reasons are:
B)"the small farmer" is not compatible with "they".
C)changed original meaning of sentence
D)same reason as B.
E)same reason as B.

A is my answer, as 'who' is used correctly and follows 'small farmer'

going with A here, B has an incorrect use of 'it', D just has a different meaning they way it is written. No chance for E either. Answer has to be A.
