IMO..D..the verb should be 'indicates'.

descendant of is more idiomatic, so (E) can be excluded

indicates - singular with "pattern"

descendant of goes with "be" verb ....... is a descendant of

descendant from is wrong. correct form is .......... have descended from

so D for me too
