According to the direction on a can of frozen orange juice concentrate, 1 can of concentrate is to be mixed with 3 cans of water to make orange juice. How many 12-ounce cans of the concentrate are required to prepare 200 6-ounce servings of orange juice?

A. 25

B. 34

C. 50

D. 67

E. 100

A

12n+12*3*n=200*6

48*n=1200

n=25

I must be having brain freeze...could you explain 12n + 12*3*n ?

TeHCM,

12n + 12*3*n = Total Quantity of Juice

12n = Conccentrate

12*3*n = Water (1 can of concentrate is to be mixed with 3 cans of water, so for "n" can of water its 3*n, Also the each can contail 12 oz.

So this 12n + 12*3*n adds up the total quantity.
