1 O requires 3 W.

so for every 12 ounce can of O we would need 3 12 ounce cans of W .

So basically using 48 ounce each time.

200 x 6 = 1200 ounce of juice.

so number of 12 ounce concentrates req = 1200/48 = 25.

so A.

I think you have a math error in your solution. Since we need 3 W for 1 O, we will use 3 * 12 ounce = 36 ounce each time. Therefore, the answer should be 1200/36, which is 33.33 (or approximately 34).

1200 is the total weight of the juice i.e. water + concentrate.

36 ounce will be the water required per 12 ounce of concentrate to give 36 + 12 = 48 ounce of juice.

so we get 1200/48

1 O requires 3 W to make J.
We have 1200 J, that means 300 O and 900 W

The can is 12 ounce, so 300/12 = 25

Answer is A

Orange juice concentrate: water::1:3

total quantity of orange juice = 200*6 = 1200 oz
so Orange juice concentrate: water :: 300 oz:900 oz

no. of 12 oz can = 300 oz/12 oz = 25

Answer A, 25 cans

For problems like this, I like to use the good old conversion tables:

200*6 oz of OJ / 1 oz of Frozen Concentrate / 1 can of Frozen Concentrate
------------------ / 4 oz of OJ ----------------- / 12 oz of Frozen Concentrate

So:
(200*6)/(4*12) = 12

Solving the problem like this is very helpful because it helps make sure that your units and unit conversions are correct. That is where most mistakes are likely to be made.

According to the directions on a can of frozen orange juice concentrate, 1 can concentrate is to be mixed with 3 cans of water to make orange juice. How many 12-ounce cans of the concentrate are required to prepare 200 6-ounce servings of orange juice.

Can you solve this? What level question? Is this considered a mixture problem?
