1 can of concentration + 3 cans of water = orange juice

if each can is 12 ounces

then 1 can of 12 ounce concentration + 3 cans of 12 ounce water = orange juice
so lets take the number of cans as x

12 x + 3x (12) = 200 x 6

12x + 36x = 1200

48 x = 1200

x = 1200 / 48

x = 25

Ratio of juice to water ===> 1:3
total 200*6 ounces
12 ounce juice cans ==> 1200/12 == 100*1/4 (ratio of jiuce to total) == 25

I think the confusion stems from lack of total servings. However, it is clear to see that if 1 can is mixed with 3 cans, we get 4 can serving of Orange juice.

here can of water , concentrate are of 12 ounces

and can of orange juice is 6 ounces

there are 200 cans of orange juice

so 12x +36x = 200*6 => x = 25.

200 6-ounce cans = 100 12-ounce cans

1 can of concentrate prepares - 4 cans of juice

Let # of 12-ounce cans/100 required = x

x + 3x = 100 (concentrate and water are in ratio 1:3)

=> x = 25

IMO A

How many 12-ounce cans of the concentrate are require to prepare 200 6-ounce servings of orange juice?

200 * 6 = 1200 ounce servings..

Given concentrate : water = 1 : 3

So, x + 3x = 1200

solving, x = 300

So concentrate = 300 ounces.

In terms of 12 ounce cans = 300/12 = 25

One easy way to get this done.

Conc:Water = 1:3
So, Conc. = 1\4 of Juice

We need to know about 12ounces of conc. i.e. 12x.
12x = 1\4 of 100. (200 6-ounce servings = 100 12-ounce servings)
12x = 25.
We need to find the value of 12x.

50 (6 ounce Con.) + 150 (6 ounce Water) = 200 (6 ounce Juice)

50 present in 6 ounce; so for 12 Ounce $$= 50 * \frac{6}{12} = 25$$

$$\frac{concentrate}{juice}=\frac{1}{4}$$, as 1 part of concentrate is to be mixed with 3 parts of water to get 4 parts of juice;

200 6-ounce of orange juice = 100 12-ounce of orange juice;

As 1/4 th 100 12-ounce of orange juice must be concentrate --> 100*1/4=25 12-ounce of cans of concentrate are required.
