I am getting the same error, when it will be back.?

Hi I am getting this message while searching: "Sorry but you are not permitted to use the search system".

"Sorry but you are not permitted to use the search system" - this is the message i am getting when trying to access content. is it because of the same problem again? Any idea when would the functionality be back on? Thanks

I thought it was only with my account But good to know nothing's wrong with my individual account permissions, if everybody is getting this same error

Hello. The post you found is from 2010 but we are having the same issue as we have had 6 years ago.... there is a Denial of Service attack in progress that started about 8 hours ago, focused on search. We have been banning IP Addresses and doing other things; however, we are only being reactive in that case. As the result, we had to disable search-related functionality to keep the site up and running.


We will re-enable search-related features either when the attack stops or once we have been able to write code preventing flooding of the search system, which will happen sometime on Monday. So.... worst case scenario, it will have to wait till Monday.

Well, whenever i am trying to lookup something using the 'Custom Google Site Search' integrated into GMATClub, the screenshot is the result i am getting, though individual links are working.

Yes, realised that after some brain-wrecking - since it's google search integrated into the forum, just checked whether google search outside of the forum was working and BINGO!

Please refresh that page multiple times or hit CTRL+F5 or SHIFT+F5 a few times; that should remove the browser cache for that page.

Well, specific links were working - only when i was trying to look up something using the search function, it relayed "access denied" message. However, seems to be back on.
