Additional Essay [#permalink] New post 20 Feb 2014, 08:38
Hi,
I had a question for an additional essay for Kellogg part-time program. I have scored a 640 in my GMAT and am applying for part-time MBA program at Kellogg.
Would it be a good idea for me to write an additional essay explaining why and how this will not affect my performance at Kellogg by highlighting my previous achievements?

Hello,

I do think it would be advisable to write the optional essay – but rather than discussing other achievements, you should focus the essay on why the somewhat low GMAT does not reflect your actual academic ability, and provide evidence that you will excel in b-school. Work accomplishments prove that you excel at work, but they don’t prove that you excel in the classroom. The adcoms want evidence of both. So depending on your academic record, cite points from that record that demonstrate academic capability (and particularly quant capability).
