Admission [#permalink] New post 09 Apr 2010, 12:14
Hi,

I have a question about MBA admission and I hope this is the right place to ask.
I am an aspirant for the top B schools of USA ( HBS, Wharton, Sloan, Columbia...). I already have a Masters in Operations Research from Columbia University and I will have 1 year 8 months work experience in a Consulting Firm, when I do the B school application.
Do you think I have a chance of being accepted with my profile?

Thank you in advance.

Forgot to mention, Gmat score: 730

My concern: is my work ex too less? or should I get a fair shot?

Probably not. Why are you after yet another masters degree in a related discipline with so little work experience? Keep in mind that employers value work experience -- someone with a lot of degrees and little experience, especially in the business world, is a concern (it suggests that you don't have practical skills and use school as a refuge from your inability to succeed in the real world).

Focus on work -- you need experience. Work experience in the long run is what will make or break your career. And maybe in 4-10 years' time, you can consider going back for an exec or part-time program.
