Hi everyone,
I am looking to get into rotman-uoft part-time morning program with the following profile:
Gpa: 3.0 (undergraduate)
Gpa for certification program from accredited university: 4.0
GMAT: 580
Work experience: 4 years in the Canadian banking industry starting in an entry level position to a business consulting position within 4 years time
Extracurriculars: avid volunteer both in the community and within my company
Excellent references
With this profile, will I have a chance to get into the rotman morning part-time MBA program? Or should I re-write my GMAT? If it is ok, is there anything in particular I should mention in my essays to increase my chances for acceptance?

A quick look at their website reveals that their average GMAT score is 633, which is a little bit higher than yours. However, the range of scores that they accepted goes down to 540, which tells me that they probably weight other factors more heavily than the GMAT. You seem to have solid work experience and extracurricular, I think you could get in either by putting together really good essays that tell your unique story or by taking the GMAT again.

Hey kind pps...
this is a bit of strict GMAT question but a very admissions-oriented one, so...
I scored 750 yesterday, my average on simulations being 770.
More importantly, I got a relatively low 48 on Q (normally between 50-51), which I'm thinking might look bad applying to the top 5 US
schools + INSEAD
does it give off a bad impression of obsession when a school sees a candidate re-taking a 750 GMAT exam?

I spent way too long on one question out of pride and ended up finishing the last 6 or 7 Q questions in under 60 seconds. Believing I might need a higher Q score and was absolutely capable of it, should I? I didn't and I'm glad. In the end, you'll look back and realize how absolutely insane the thought of retaking a 740 or 750 is, no matter your Q score. Start putting together the rest of your application. That's where the difference will be made.
