Paul,

In your experience, has Round 3 admissions usually taken less time than earlier rounds? I applied late to NYU & Columbia and was wondering if they would take the standard 12+ weeks or do they usually quicken the process a little. I'm looking to attend some Pre-MBA events but they require proof of admittance and I'm afraind that I'll miss most of these events since I applied early March. Thanks,

Navy

Navy,

Sorry, I have no knowledge of the third-round process taking less time than earlier rounds. You may want to email NYU and Columbia on this. But my guess is they will just refer you to their published info on decision release dates. I must say, you sound confident. :)

Good luck,

ha ha ha, confident, not really just impatient. Actually, I posted my profile a while back and you said I had a "good chance and should be optimistic about both schools" and another consultant (Stacey Blackman) suggested that I consider applying next year for 2009 since I could possible get a scholarship/fellowship with my profile. So if my applications crash and burn, I'll blame you guys for the letdown! (kidding, )

I'm a semifinalist for the Toigo Foundation fellowship and they have a May 1st decision deadline which I hope they forget about. I'm also very interested (career switcher) in going to some Pre-MBA seminars/events offered to women and minorities so I can start getting the business lingo down for recruiting events which start in September, but I can't apply until I have an acceptance letter.

I started reading some popular business books such as Liar's Poker, Monkey Business, Bombardiers and When Genius Failed to start supplementing my business knowledge in a more Nora Roberts style. Do you have any recommended reading for someone looking to go into Corporate Finance?

Thanks and really appreciate your service!

Thanks. No recommendations for books on corporate finance specifically, but I found "The Accidental Investment Banker" by Knee interesting.

Good luck.
