When you guys submitted the FAFSA, did you use the general University of Chicago school code? I saw two names when I did a search for "University of Chicago":

UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO
UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO GRADUATE

I'm hoping the second wasn't the GSB (old name).

I don't trust anyone on this forum, so I called Priscilla Parker at financial aid and she said it's E00512 :P j/k I had called her before checking the forum.

BTW, what exactly does "expected family contribution" mean? If EFC = 50k, does that mean the student MUST pay the 50k out of pocket and is only eligible for aid on the difference between School cost (80k) minus the EFC, which would be 30k?

The school uses the EFC to determine your federal student aid eligibility and financial aid award.

Your EFC is not the amount of money your will have to pay for college nor is it the amount of federal student aid you will receive. It is a number used by your school to calculate the amount of federal student aid you are eligible to receive.

It's usually used as guidance on how they will calculate your fin aid package.

Does Booth mail out an admit packet like other schools? If so, how long did it take the rd1 crew to receive your info?

Yeah, they do. I got mine the day following the decision. They sent it through UPS if I recall properly, so you should get it soon depending on where you are.

Yeah. I was admitted on a Thursday (I think Dec 16th?) and received my packet on Saturday.

I received mine this past Saturday out on the West Coast. It was sent by USPS Priority Mail.

I received mine via Fed Ex, baby! Internationals get better service! :P

Not much in the admit package. Do we have to fill out everything and turn it in? I do like the flash drive, but too bad it's only 256 MB.

I applied for R3 and just got an email about an event this Friday. I assume everyone who applied got the email. It seems kind of like late notice.

Did everyone get this letter? Do you think it will hurt my chances not getting in?

To all the Booth admits considering going elsewhere, I bring you this video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oeqkQraNO7w

She chose a school in Singapore over University of Chicago and MIT Sloan.

I think this girl was caned for farting in public and now manages a Sunoco station.

Can anybody shed some light on international exchange programs? Specifically:
>>> how does the recruitment process work (based on grades? language skills? some sort of application?)
>>> how competitive is the process (everybody wants to go somewhere? half? nobody?)
>>> when do students usually go on exchange (end of 1st year? start of 2nd? end of 2nd?)

thanks in advance!

the4aces - I'd ask this in the Calling all Applicants thread. More likely to get a response there :)
