Yes he is. He posted the link to the group when he first created it a few weeks back.

Thanks. Another thing I didnt think of!

I will add this to my to do list (I need to create the "alternative to do list" in relation to the one they have on the site...)

By the way guys, has anyone joined this yet?

I'd like to join, but we can't have anyone at our offices find out we're leaving so I'll have to stay away from the Kellogg social networks until July!

River - Thanks for the housing info! Once I get my ding from HBS next week, we'll be able to fully immerse ourselves in planning for the Kellogg/Evanston move and your advice will be very helpful. Thanks!

You could always join and then hide your groups - that way no one can see you've joined it :)

For those of you brining a significant other along to DAK, the schedule for the JV group is posted now.

Sorry if this has been answered already, but what's the quickest/cheapest way to get from ORD to Kellogg campus?

I think the quickest way would be to take a cab, for probably about $35. I'm pretty sure the cheapest would be the El for $2, but it would take a long time.

Thanks river. I guess my concerns about JVs having enough to do during DAK were a bit premature. I can't tell you what a relief it is that Kellogg has such a robust JV network.

So since I can't make it to DAK, I'm thinking of just driving down, spending a day visiting classes/meet some students/etc. Are there any days of the week that are better than others? Any days to avoid?

Cheers,
ac.

Quickest: Cab or friend. 40ish or free
Cheapest: Kiss N Fly or a friend. $2 or free

Kiss n Fly will take twice as long. Basically you ride to the end of the silly monorail system and then take a bus that goes all the way to the Davis El stop.

Well, I am officially coming - ordered a hotel room and flights and everything. Can't wait to meet you guys!

A quick tip to save some money.

I visited the websites for the hotels. Ended up going with the Hilton Garden Inn. The Kellogg website lists them at 109 a night. I was able to get a (admittedly non-refundable) deal for 87 bucks a night . I may not be in the same section of the hotel as you guys (not sure) but its a nice save. All prices are before tax - is that an american thing?:):)

They still have that offer online - so if you are definitely coming, go ahead and save 80 bucks for the four days by ordering.

Website is: https://www.hiltongardeninn.com/en/gi/ho ... cn=ORDEVGI

Good luck.

Edit: checked again. The regular price is 124 a night and not 109, so the savings are much higher. The 87 a night is only available if you are coming on the 4th and leaving on the 9th (like me).

Cool, is it within walking distance to the Jacobs Center?

Wow that's a good deal. When I booked last month the DAK rate at the Hilton was $129/night and the online book in advance deal was $109.

You should get used to before-tax prices. Unlike most of the world, in the US with only a few exceptions taxes are not included in the marked price. Also, sales taxes will vary by state and even some cities add their own sales tax, so the amount of tax won't be consistent throughout the country.

According to the Kellogg's website - 15 minute walk. Also - they are saying 124 a night on the admitted student website, so the difference is much more then 80 bucks for 4 days.

NJMIKE - just another thing I need to get used to:)

Edit: I just checked the site. Apparently the discount has to do with the number of days you are staying - I am coming on the 4th and leaving on the 9th (want to find an apartment while I'm there). If you are coming and leaving on these dates, you can still get the 87 dollar a night price. If you are only coming for the weekend, it is not available.

Of the 3 hotel options they give you guys. The Orrington is the closest and probably a 10-12 minute walk. The Hilton isnt much futher and is probably only 12-15. The other one, Holiday Inn (???) is the furthest from campus but its the closest to the bars, probably a 20-25 minute walk.

If you look on the discussion board on the admit site there are a bunch of folks looking to split cabs.

The Hilton is one block from where I live, so definitely walkable to Jacobs. Its a little less centrally located; but by that I mean about 2-3 blocks.
