Dear forumers,

Quick question on the background check/application verification. I am sure this is feels like a tedious pain in the ass for many recently admitted students. Do you know what background check company Kellogg uses? In the admitted student portal, it says the application verification form will be available by late March/ early April, but it has yet to be posted. What company does Kellogg use for its background verification? How long does it usually take, and do students get a confirmation once the verification is complete?

The reason I ask is that I have to be abroad in the summer and hope to get everything on the To Do List - background check, housing arrangement, student insurance, computer set up, medical forms, etc - all complete before the summer begins.

Thanks!

Congrats to all the admits on here! I for one am very excited about starting at Kellogg in the fall. My only concern, as many people have already voiced, is how to finance this 2 year program. I heard through the grapevine that some people may have found out about scholarships at the time they received their admittance. Is there any truth in this? If I did not hear about any scholarships already, is it likely that I will only receive around the average amount?

Thanks in advance for your help!

I received about that average scholarship amount after filling out the financial aid forms and getting a response by email

Thanks for your response! How long after you submitted your financial aid app did you receive your FinAid package?

hi there,

I just wanted to contribute to the last few questions around financial aid offers. I received the financial aid offer by email 3 weeks after submitting my form online.

I was quite disappointed to see that they didn't offer any scholarships, only a loan to cover up the entirety of the 1st year expenses. As I have very little savings, I was really hoping for a scholarship (even a small one) to reduce the amount of the loan. The financial aid office themselves told me that there are very few scholarships available for international students :(

Has any international students received a scholarship? and if you have, what do you think made you eligible for it?

I'm trying to figure out if I can negotiate on that with them, and how to tackle the negotiation... Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

i'm international as well and didn't receive any scholarships. the loan offer also doesn't cover everything they quoted - just 85% of total expenses. They approved your loan to cover 100% of expenses?

No, same as you, about 85% of total expenses for the year

Regarding flight reimbursement for DAK - I understood it was only offered to select students and they would make you aware whether you were one of these students at time of admittance and by sending the email referenced above. I could be wrong, but that is how I understood it.

Seriously?? How in the world did they come up with a list of 'selected students' to send that email to?? Very strange - I took it for granted that this went out to everyone...

Hey Everyone! I am getting ready for Fall, and am wondering how much I need to know in Excel? I know how to create basic formulas, but is there anything else I should be prepared for? Should I sign up for MBAMath, or some Excel class? If anyone has some insight, that would be great!

I am also international, no scholarship either, I was offered a loan covering 90 %. As I understood, international students can get only merit scholarships, not scholarships awarded by Financial Aid Office. Has anybody been successful in finding outside scholarships?

I wouldn't worry about it. The KSA (student government) runs Excel and Powerpoint sessions in the fall for incoming students who need some extra help. Also, usually in the classes that use more advanced Excel functionality, the Excel will be covered either in class or during TA sessions.

@bpengage,
Have you been able to print the application verification form?

Since 3 days when I try to log on I end up having this message everytime:

"Site Maintenance

The Kellogg School of Management Web site is temporarily down for maintenance. We apologize for any inconvenience. The site will be available again in the next 30 minutes
."

Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Yes I've had that message too for the last few days. I'd suggest emailing the admissions office to tell them about the issue and ask that they send you the pdf. But FYI you have until May 23 to send it back and the pdf only requires a simple signature.

I paid the deposit this morning! that's it, I'm going to kellogg :) :) see you all in Sept!!

Hi,

I didn't go to DAk and feel like I missed something about KWEST. How can we find out about where trips are and how to register?

Hi nifoui
thanks maybe I'll email them. The info came out on May 2dn, and since I'im a round 1 admit, I must send the form before May 9th.

As for KWEST, once you log on on the admitted student portal,(if the site is not down  ) you have a link to the specific KWEST page.
There you'll have the info about the destination, the schedule, what to bring in your bags (sun glasses, etc...) and the price.

PS: are you international? why didn't you go to DAK?
