Congratulations on your recent admission to Kellogg! On behalf of the Kellogg Office of Admissions, I am writing to invite you to some special activities during Day at Kellogg (DAK). The dates for the event are February 11-12, 2011. If you have not already done so, please register immediately for DAK via the welcome website. I noticed that several people who have booked travel have not registered for the event. If you have questions, you may contact the committee at dak11@kellogg.northwestern.edu. Don’t be left out!!!

Realizing you are in a crucial decision making stage, we would like to make sure that you have the opportunity to experience the Kellogg School: your airfare will be paid by Kellogg ($375 limit for US-based admits and $500 for internationally-based admits). If you have already booked your travel, please see the attached document for reimbursement instructions.

Black Management Association (BMA), Africa Business Club (ABC) and Hispanic Business Student Association (HBSA) will host a joint welcome reception on Thursday, February 10, beginning at 6:30pm. You will receive details and RSVP information on the club receptions shortly. We encourage you to arrive in Chicago no later than 4pm on February 10 for this special opportunity to meet and greet minority students and admits before DAK begins on Friday morning.

BOOKING TRAVEL
Contact Tina Erler at Travel 100 Group (800-245-9335) to make flight arrangements to and from Chicago. Hours of operation are 9:00 am – 5:00 pm CST, Monday through Friday. Flights must be booked no later than January 27th, 2011 to receive the travel stipend.

If your ticket costs more than the allotted stipend, you will not be able to use Travel 100 Group and will need to book your own ticket and submit your reservation for reimbursement with Kellogg. If your ticket falls under the allotted stipend amount and you DO book with Travel 100 Group, then the reimbursement instructions DO NOT apply to you.

Congrats to all the admits on here! I for one am very excited about starting at Kellogg in the fall. My only concern, as many people have already voiced, is how to finance this 2 year program. I heard through the grapevine that some people may have found out about scholarships at the time they received their admittance. Is there any truth in this? If I did not hear about any scholarships already, is it likely that I will only receive around the average amount?

I received about that average scholarship amount after filling out the financial aid forms and getting a response by email

I just wanted to contribute to the last few questions around financial aid offers. I received the financial aid offer by email 3 weeks after submitting my form online.

I was quite disappointed to see that they didn't offer any scholarships, only a loan to cover up the entirety of the 1st year expenses. As I have very little savings, I was really hoping for a scholarship (even a small one) to reduce the amount of the loan. The financial aid office themselves told me that there are very few scholarships available for international students

Has any international students received a scholarship? and if you have, what do you think made you eligible for it?

I'm trying to figure out if I can negotiate on that with them, and how to tackle the negotiation... Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

i'm international as well and didn't receive any scholarships. the loan offer also doesn't cover everything they quoted - just 85% of total expenses. They approved your loan to cover 100% of expenses?

Regarding flight reimbursement for DAK - I understood it was only offered to select students and they would make you aware whether you were one of these students at time of admittance and by sending the email referenced above. I could be wrong, but that is how I understood it.

Since 3 days when I try to log on I end up having this message everytime:

"Site Maintenance

The Kellogg School of Management Web site is temporarily down for maintenance. We apologize for any inconvenience. The site will be available again in the next 30 minutes."

Has anyone else experienced this issue?
