Admitted to Wharton Class of 2013 Thread [#permalink]

I saw a few other threads of this nature so I figured I'd start one for Wharton. Congrats to everyone! Here's a link to last year's thread: http://gmatclub.com/forum/admitted-to-wharton-class-of-2012-thread-91875.html?hilit=wharton

I just got a book in the mail sent by Lauder - The India Way - written by 4 Wharton professors. Probably because I'm enrolling in the Hindi/India track at Lauder - quite thoughtful of them. Gonna add that to my pre-MBA reading list!

Not an admit (yet?) but I came across the book in my Wharton research and bought it. Haven't had a chance to read it yet but will surely crack the spine this week now that all my R2 apps are in. I also picked up - The Go Point - also written by Prof. Useem. That's really cool that Lauder sent it to you. Wish I could have applied for the India track but my Hindi is not good enough to qualify (I can't read/write).

I'll be sure to check out "Go Point" too.. hmm I don't think you require to know how to read/write to apply to Lauder? The only minimum requirement is a certain score on the OPI and that is a verbal test conducted over the phone. Frankly, even my hindi is not very good - I can barely hold a conversation without mixing some English in to my sentences but somehow I got an Advanced score on the OPI! If you're really keen you might try getting in touch with Marcy Bevan to see if they would still consider an application - since its in its first year I'm guessing they'd be fairly flexible.

Hmmm, that's interesting. I'm in the same boat - need to mix in English into the conversation. I might give Marcy a call just to get more info. I'm interested in starting up a business in India so Lauder would definitely go a long way in that regard. I've always wanted to sharpen up my Hindi and Lauder would be a good way to accomplish that too. And I guess while I'm on this thread, if anyone wants to know more about living in Philly, feel free to fire away. I moved for work to Philadelphia 1.5 years ago and live in the city (Old City to be specific).

Just to follow up. I would definitely be behind in reading and writing skills but they would still consider an R2 Lauder application so I might not be done with R2 after all!! Thanks for the heads up staind! +1

Thanks for the heads up staind! +1 Awesome! With your plans to do business in India, the "Why Lauder" essay should be a cakewalk! Nail the culture essay, do well on the OPI, and you should be in with a good chance to get an interview.

I can't make it to admit weekend because of work, and I'm not very happy about this, but I'll make up for it in May with the other Lauderites.

Does anyone know what Re Vera checks for? Do they only verify your current employment?
