Hey guys,

Finally see the deposit went through. I log on to my status page and see a status of "Deposit has been recieved".

I am thinking the student identification number and Kroll is next.

Nope. I did speak to the adcom asking them when can we expect the form and they gave me a non-committal answer of "when its ready, we will send out a mass email to everyone".

Guess I should stop bugging them :)

thanks for the info..

just a question: do you know if we will only receive such emails if we have committed to Wharton be paying the 1.5K?

I am hoping to find out about any potential financial aid offers before committing..

yep - you can only start the kroll process once you have paid the deposit. I have confirmed that with the adcomm before.

Are you 100% sure that you can only do the verification process once you have paid your $1,500 deposit? On the admitted students portal, it says

"The verification process is routine for all admitted students who matriculate into the Wharton MBA Program. Admitted students who wish to have verifications conducted prior to matriculation are welcome to do so."

I take this to mean that we can start the verification process before paying the $1,500. I actually may do this because of some issues with my current company. I want to get the verification process over with before we make some big HR/staffing changes that will make the whole background check more difficult.

Hmm I am not sure..I remember asking them clearly on the phone if I had to pay the $1500 before starting Kroll and they said yes.

Maybe they just wanted my $1500 :)

Yep - me too.

Just faxed in the form and paid the $65.

Fingers crossed..I am just hoping they find what they find and finish the process ASAP rather than the 8 weeks that they are saying.

I submitted the Kroll form today and found some interesting things:

1. In the application, your start date and end date of employement are in the form of [mm/yyyy]. There is no provision to put in the actual date. However the Kroll form uses this information to populate it to [mm/01/yyyy]. It automatically assumes that you started on the 1st of every month. I thought they were doing this for years!

2. Only allowed to change one field in all the forms - the contact number of the company. I guess I am fine with it since I had no changes here, but its interesting that they have changed their fields-allowed-to-change. In previous years, I remember applicants specifically tweaking their bonus info as their initial app numbers were estimates. I was lucky enough to look through my W-2 during my apps. Also, in the contact number field - no information on whether they want the reception desk or the HR. I used that field to put in both the information just in case they needed it.

3. No place to put in your Salary PIN or similar information even though I know they will need to get past my company's bureaucracy.

Weird.

Does Kroll tell employers that they are conducting background checks specifically for business school matriculation?

From what I've read on Wharton's S2S forums, Kroll indicates that they've been authorized to do a background check by you but does not specify that it is for Wharton.

FYI, Kroll just faxed their verification form to my current employer and they absolutely DO SAY it's for Wharton. They send the release form you signed, which has Wharton written all over it.

Zoink - Question. Does the form that Kroll sends the employer indicate that I was accepted? Or just that their verifying my application info?

I ask because I have not told my employer that I've been accepted yet, for internal political reasons...however, they do know that I was applying.

Thanks!

I'll answer for zoinnk here-

Read 2 posts above you by zoinnk- "FYI, Kroll just faxed their verification form to my current employer and they absolutely DO SAY it's for Wharton. They send the release form you signed, which has Wharton written all over it."

So it looks like your company will get to know whether its for MBA or not..not sure whether they know if you have been admitted already or not (not that it matters) but yes, the company will have Wharton staring at their faces it looks like.
