Advertisement: Avian Oculars are the newest in binocular technology for the professional bird watcher. For a price comparable to that of traditional binoculars, Avian Oculars are specially designed with the features demanded by birding enthusiasts: they are lightweight, compact and extremely durable. So, use Avian Oculars on your next bird watching excursion, and see some of the world’s rarest species in all of their beautiful plumage.

Which of the following is an assumption on which the author of the advertisement relies?

(A)Avian Oculars weigh less than traditional binoculars.

(B)Avian Oculars should be used only by bird watchers.

(C)The reader will travel through the habitats of rare species during his or her next bird watching trip.

(D)Avian Oculars are similar in cost to traditional binoculars.

(E)Birding enthusiasts often determine the specifications of new products.

C. Correct - The only way to see the world's rare birds would be to be on a trip.

A & D are explicitly stated in the text, so these answers are not assumptions.

How can you eliminate (E)?

The conclusion is the last sentence:

"So, use Avian Oculars on your next bird watching excursion, and see some of the world’s rarest species in all of their beautiful plumage"

The conclusion does not depend on whether the binoculars were designed by birdwatchers or not. The conclusion states use them and you will see rare birds.

Which of the following is an assumption on which the author of the advertisement relies?

(A)Avian Oculars weigh less than traditional binoculars.
[stated in the text, thus not an assumption]

(B)Avian Oculars should be used only by bird watchers.
[Not relevant]

(C)The reader will travel through the habitats of rare species during his or her next bird watching trip.
[Best answer in my opinion, this ad is directed towards "high level" birdwatchers and it assumes that they will see "some of the world’s rarest species"]

(D)Avian Oculars are similar in cost to traditional binoculars.
[stated in the text, thus not an assumption]

(E)Birding enthusiasts often determine the specifications of new products.
[Paraphrased, I don't think it is an assumption]

Ans is C

E is stated in the passage so it can't be an assumption. The ans. Choice E is just the rephrase of part of the argument.

these questions are stupid stupid stupid

you guys are wasting your time doing these

answer is obviously C but it doesn't test/teach anything

if you want to improve CR do only OG not MGMAT/Kaplan/McGrawHill/etc......... that's what seperates high 600's from high 700's.

Hi StartupAddict, there are only so many questions you can find on the OG. Can you please be more specific about your conclusion? Is there a source/question bank which is similar to OG?
