For sinus pain, three out of four hospitals give their patients Novex. So when you want the most effective painkiller for sinus pain, Novex is the one to choose.

Which of the following, if true, most seriously undermines the advertisementтАЩs argument?
(A) Some competing brands of painkillers are intended to reduce other kinds of pain in addition to sinus pain.
(B) Many hospitals that do not usually use Novex will do so for those patients who cannot tolerate the drug the hospitals usually use.
(C) Many drug manufacturers increase sales of their products to hospitals by selling these products to the hospitals at the lowest price the manu-facturers can afford.
(D) Unlike some competing brands of painkillers, Novex is available from pharmacies without a doctorтАЩs prescription.
(E) In clinical trials Novex has been found more effective than competing brands of painkillers that have been on the market longer than Novex.

I found this really confusing.

I think u might have chosen (C)
D should be it.

C - saying at prices manufacturers can afford and not at the price hospital wants.
Assume brand A sells for 10 cents ( A's manufacturer can afford >=10 cents )
brand B sells for 20 cents ( B's manufacturer can afford >=20 cents )

Had C said just lowest prices the hospital can afford then C would be right.

I completely agree with you Anand, but the stated answer is D. I have tried to understand why D would be the right answer but I'm pretty much stumped!

Agree with you Anand...I know this may sound wierd...but being in US and knowing how the medical system works here would aid in you choosing option D. A GMAT taker from a lesser developed country would go for C...just a feeling..nothing else.

Vivek.
