Advertisement: Over 80 percent of the people who test-drive

Advertisement: Over 80 percent of the people who test-drive a Zenith car end up buying one. So be warned: you should not test-drive a Zenith unless you are prepared to buy one, because if you so much as drive a Zenith around the block, there is a better than 80 percent chance you will choose to buy it.
If the advertisement is interpreted as implying that the quality of the car is unusually impressive, which one of the following, if true, most clearly casts doubt on that implication?

(A) Test-drives of Zenith cars are, according to Zenith sales personnel, generally more extensive than a drive around the block and encounter varied driving conditions.
(B) Usually dealers have enough Zenith models in stock that prospective purchasers are able to test-drive the exact model that they are considering for purchase.
(C) Those who take test-drives in cars are, in overwhelming proportions, people who have already decided to buy the model driven unless some fault should become evident.
(D) Almost 90 percent of the people who purchase a car do not do so on the day they take a first test-drive but do so after another test-drive.

I was able to apply POE to filter the choices to A and D but chose the wrong one.
Please help me knowing why A is wrong.

What is the OA ?

IMO, the answer should be C.

C directly attacks the advertisements claim that the car is so impressive during the test drive that you will end up buying it.
its not because of the car being impressive during the test drive but because of many of them having already made up a decision about it.

'A' donot directly attack the advertisements.
'D' also donot directly attack the advertisement but says that the decision is made after another test drive and not the first one.

I'd go with C as this weakens the implication that the customers do not buy the cars because of impressive quality but they do so intentionally.

The conclusion is that if you test Zenith car, 80 % chance that you will buy it

So to weaken it: pose a situation in which you have just test-driven Zenith, but > 80% chance that you won't buy it --> it's D: if you just take one test-driven for Zenith but not anytime else, 90% of chance that you won't buy it

A has no influence: the harder test for Zenith car driver than for other car's driver does not indicate a stronger or weaker point of any type of car than the others


The other choices strengthen

Advertisement: Over 80 percent of the people who test-drive a Zenith car end up buying one. I dont understand your reasoning. Option D says that 90% of the people do end up buying the car after a test drive.Just not so on the first day.Fact is the car is sold on the merit of the test drive.How does the day - first or second, that it was test driven affect the outcome?

I think the answer is C. It shows that the people who test drive the car are already set up on buying the car and that it is not the test drive that entices them to buy it.

C for me....This choice brings out that it is not the test drives but the already determined choices of the people are making them buy the car...
