I have decided to indulge with a new surround sound system. I am thinking of buying either a 2.1 or a 5.1 system, but I am a bit clueless as to which one I should go for and importantly what make. What is essential is for it to have multiple inputs, my living rooms currently has the following devices :

PS3
X-Box
LCD TV
Projector
(occasionaly) Laptop (I alredy have an external sound blaster card to give me a 5.1 output from the laptop)

All of these should be able to connect simultaneously hopefully so that I dont spend my life switching wires. I just bought a HDMI switch to make sure all the video outs can be synced into the projector, now I need some kick a$$ speakers to complete my entertainment hub.

Suggestions eagerly awaited !!

Bose Lifestyle 28 is probably the "best" choice out there.

But right now I'm using the Boston BA745 for both my computer and home entertainment system. I have a 22" widescreen LCD but I prefer to play my games and watch my movies on the HD project and to be quite frank they do a hell of a job. But if I had the option to upgrade I would go for the Bose Lifestyle. Those kids are nice.

I opted for the LG LHB977. It's a theater in a box setup but delivers some serious sound. I like it because it has blu-ray but also pandora and netflix streaming capabilities.
