Advice on whether to take the test now or take later [#permalink] New post 22 Jan 2014, 08:57
Hello Friends,

I have seen some forum threads where people ask whether to retake the GMAT test. However, I am asking whether it is the right time for me to take my first GMAT test .
I have given some mock GMAT prep test and scored as below:

Manhattan : 670 (Quant : 47, Verbal : 34)
Princeton Review : 660 (Quant : 43, Verbal : 39)
Veritas Prep : 680 (Quant : 49, Verbal : 35)
Economist Prep : 670 (Quant : 49, Verbal : 34)
GMAT Pill : 670 (Quant : 46, Verbal : 35)
Kaplan : 730 (Quant : 98%, Verbal : 87%)
GMAT Prep (Test 1) : 710 (Quant : 49, Verbal : 38)
GMAT Prep (Test 1) : 710 (Quant : 50, Verbal : 36)

I have taken all these test in last 1 month and planning to take GMAT on 8th FEB. Will it be good idea to go for it. I want to achieve 700+ . How much can I expect on actual GMAT considering above results in past 1 month. Please advice. The reason I am asking this before the exam is because, I don't to be disheartened and lose confidence if I don't achieve what I am aiming for.

Dear vimal096,
I'm happy to respond. You are already in very good shape. If you use these last few weeks well, I believe you easily will reach your goal. Here's a one-month study plan to help you:

I realize you don't have a full month, but because you have already done quite a bit, you can probably pick & choose and still get a lot out of this plan. Make sure you are focusing on the harder questions in your remaining practice. Here are a few blogs with difficult questions:

Let me know if you have any further questions.
Mike :-)

Hi there,

Your scores are decent enough to sit in the exam. However, please make a note of some points before sitting in the exam. Success in exam depends not only on your scores but also other parameters such as your stamina, your concentration, your anxiety, your confidence etc. I am sure you might have seen people scoring 700-750 in mocks and landing up at 600-670 and that is because of the other parameters affecting success in the exam.

Be sure to measure these parameters with your preparation level and then sit in the exam.

Hope that helps

Rgds,
TGC!

Thanks Mike,

Thanks for your advice and link to resources resources. I am currently going through the links shared by you. However, I would like to know, whether I can find some hard/tricky questions (Quantitative and Sentence correction) compiled at a place in downloadable format. I think I am weak in geometry, probability and reading comprehension. Any advice on how to tackle them. If you could share links to some good geometry questions, i would be thankful.
