Hello,

I am looking to apply to business schools this coming fall. At the time of applications I will have 5 years of work experience working for the same company ( a large investment management firm). I was promoted to a senior associate role and had the opportunity to work 2 years abroad. I recently sat for the GMAT and was happy with the results Q48 V41 - 720 (94th%) but my AWA was an awful 4.5! My GPA is a 3.8 and I am looking at a few top 10 programs. Would such a low AWA warrant a retake for the exam?? Please let me know what you think. I would really like to avoid taking the integrated reasoning section if at all possible :).

Your AWA score is low but shouldn't warrant a retake of the exam. Your GMAT score is decent and work experience abroad, which helps you stand out, is going to matter more than a low AWA score. Working on your story and branding yourself is going to be more important.
