Advice regarding a job offer

Hello,
I need some advice regarding a job offer I've received recently with regard to whether it'll help me secure admission in a top mba programme. Before going into the details of the offer here is my profile in brief.
Education:-
B. Tech, Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, 2014. GPA 9.1/10
Work exp:-
Field Engineer, Schlumberger, India (Aug 2014 to June 2016)
- Worked as cell manager for drilling and measurements segment providing upstream services to oil and gas clients at various field locations (oil and gas E&P rigs) in India
- Took lead in deployment of a cost effective technology in India through training personnel, job cycle planning and service quality interventions
- Assisted the Field Service Manager in work forecast and operational planning and execution in coordination with the clients
- Received classroom and practical training on job functions at UAE and USA
I quit the job recently since I had kind of hit the proverbial plateau. I rose quickly taking on large responsibility particularly in the cost effective technology sphere that formed the bulk of the work in my region. Now the new system was well established and I had to move back to the field which I wasn't very keen on. Plus I was also in a bad mental space. My mother expired earlier this year and I needed some personal time with family.
I also did an internship with them in the summers before my final year at college and received a return offer.
The job offer:-
I have been offered the position of a General Manager at a recently registered non-profit. I'll be part of the founding team. This organisation has been conceived in cohesion with the national political party that formed the incumbent national government, although I am not sure they'll admit the association in public and hence the independent organisation. They have received a project from this party with a mandate of managing the campaign for the upcoming elections in 2017 in India's largest federal state. My role will essentially be that of conceiving and managing programs of youth outreach and general campaign management alongside other associated projects.
My Plans:-
I hope to apply to a US MBA program for admission in fall'17 that is a year from now and hopefully move to a strategy consulting role after that. Now in the scheme of things should I accept the job offer? Ill have about 6 months of experience in the job by R2 when I plan on completing the applications. Moreover will my short experience of roughly 3 yrs by matriculation be enough to get a seat at a respectable mba programme?
Thanks in advance for helping out.
