Hi paul,

I would like to know which schools are the best in operations management and HR/OB. Also can you throw some light on any resources that detail career paths in the above mentioned fields.

For operations, the best are usually considered to be MIT, CMU, Purdue, Michigan, HBS, and Stanford, among a number of other excellent programs. For HR/OB, some outstanding programs are HBS, Stanford, UCLA, Maryland, and Wisconsin.

Regarding information on operations management careers, I don't actually know of a good book on the subject, but the Association for Operations Management (http://www.apics.org) would be a good place to start. For HR careers, look at Vault Guide to Human Resources Careers and the WetFeet Insider's Guide, Careers in Human Resources.
