Hi Everyone,

I need some advice.
My Kaplan Online Course access expires March 7. I have not been scoring well in KAP-CATs and hence I have postponed taking my exam till April end. To improve on my weaknesses, I have purchased Manhattan Gmat quantitative section for further study.
My question is: Should I extend access to Kaplan course till my real Gmat by paying $299 for extension?

I have not been able to avail Kaplan's highly talked about course feature the "Ultimate Practice Test". No point taking it when I know I need to improve by 100+ points. So either I extend the course access or else just let it go (and forget taking the UPT which I must by March 7).
If I forget about Kaplan access expiring, to continue my study I will have OG11&12, the MGMAT Quatitative books that come with CATs, and Kaplan course book.

Is online access worth extending?
Help me make a decision.

IMO, I would not renew the Kaplan course. While the CATs are beneficial, if you have taken most of them you will start to see mostly repeats. The UPT is a good thing to do, even if you aren't scoring where you want. You should take it before the access expires.

For my personal experience, I took the full blown Kaplan course- ended up scoring a 650 on the actual GMAT. I took advantage of the "unsatisfied" policy that they have, and renewed the online resources. I used these materials up to my next GMAT, where I only scored 660. After these Kaplan resources expired, I tired a more thorough approach to studying.

Using the GMAT club tests, Manhattan Quant, all of the OGs, and studying the Manhattan SC and powerscore CR Bible books gave me a much better review of the concepts needed to really see improvement in the score. You will have PLENTY of CATs/practice left to work with - through MGMAT, GMAT club, and GMAT Prep.

After using these resources over a 2 month or so period, I got a 710. I wish I had known about the above mentioned materials in the first place!

Hi.... I too have been thinking about taking the UPT and real GMAT before my course expires. However, I have been scoring in 500s in the CATs( I know its pathetic). My friends who have already taken the exam tell me that a 500 range on Kaplan CATs equates to a 400 range on real GMAT. I question my motivation that will be left after getting a poor score on UPT and then still take real GMAT the next morning.
But oh well, I am going to register for UPT and GMAT on March 4 and 5 respectively.
Lets see. Till then I am trying to improve on my pacing, I think that what makes me nervous everytime I take a CAT.
