I would go for A.

from ( X and Y ) to Z
B C E uses incorrect idiom.
Between A and D. I think "it" is not required .

I posted this question as I wanted to be sure what is wrong with D.

I assume , that the use of "it"is not wrong but just redundant.

I would go for A
You use that to introduce a clause. Here, a phrase "appears to have made" is more clear and concise.
B,C,E do not use the right idiom (run from x to y).

Idiom usage: from X to Y: Eliminate B, C and E
