D. Eliminate A, B, and C because Tubman doesn't need the 's Eliminate E because (apart from being awkward) "had maintained" is inconsistent with "has"; her contemporaries still maintained the awesome qualities that she had at the time, and presumably never changed their minds. Plus, they're all dead. Ok, that's how I thought it out.

+1 D A,B,C get eliminated because of Tuman's E has incorrect verb tense had & has E is also awkward D is the correct answer

Ok, that's how I thought it out. Still not clear why E is wrong.. Please help..
