Setreal,
I would not worry about your age at all. Certainly don't let it keep you from applying to programs that will give you the summer internship. You are in the 'wheelhouse' or sweet spot in terms of full-time MBA programs. The only potential issue is that because you have been in the workforce for a few years you will be held to a higher standard in terms of professional achievements than someone who is, say, 25. But as long as you feel that your career pace is on or even ahead of track in terms of responsibility level, you are fine. I'd be glad to give you specific feedback on your profile if you want to send me your CV:

I made the decision that I wanted to get my Full-Time MBA back in mid-January of this year, and started studying for the GMAT at that point. I'm scheduled to take the test at the end of this month and have been consistently scoring around 700-740 on practice tests. I attended a US state school for undergrad with a 3.8 GPA in a liberal arts double major (English & History) and currently work in corporate merchandising at a Fortune 20 company.
However, I'm extremely concerned about the realities of the timelines and specifically my age. I assume once I take the GMAT I will need a few months to prepare my applications, but that means even if I apply early/round 1 for schools I wouldn't matriculate until Fall of 2016. I'm currently 27, and my birthday is in July, so I would be 28 by application time and 29 by the time I started school. I've looked around and there seem to be a few alternative programs to start earlier / finish more quickly (Columbia January start/Kellogg 1 year), but I think the loss of the internship would be an issue.
Please let me know what you think. Thanks!
